William E. Laub

Age 82, died Sept. 21.

Born in St. Louis, Mr. Laub resided in Concord. Mr. Laub was retired from the St. Louis City Police Department after 37 years of service and went on to serve as police chief in Moline Acres, Augusta, Hawk Point and Kimmswick.

He also served as executive director of the Missouri Police Chiefs Association and worked with many other aspects of law enforcement. He was an instructor of self defense and karate at the Police Academy and Forest Park Community College.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, William G. and Joyce Laub; daughter and sons-in-law, Laura L. Mobley and Julie A. and Steven G. Gaither; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marie Laub (nee Straub), and son, Daniel D. Laub.

Services were conducted at St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church. Visitation was at John L. Ziegenhein and Sons, south county. Burial was in Shepherd Hills Cemetery

Officer William E. Laub, DSN 1240, was commissioned as a Police Officer on 01/07/1952. After the academy he was assigned to the 2Nd District, Traffic / Control Section, Central (which is now called the 4Th District), 12Th District, Canine Division, Training Division, and finally the Police Academy as an instructor. When Officer Laub retired on 04/07/1982 he had 30.25 years of dedicated service to the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department. Officer Laub was also a veteran on the United States Navy and achieved the rank of Petty Officer 1St Class (E-6).
